Truckee River Trail

DESCRIPTION:

This is a totally delightful trail that is perfect for power walks and mellow bike rides. The trail is paved from North Tahoe to Squaw Valley. No motorized vehicles or horses.

The wide trail drops smoothly along the Truckee River and provides access for innertube floating or fishing.

My favorite is to stop off at the River Ranch that is immediately adjacent to the trail and enjoy a cool drink or a hot meal on the deck. Or even inside in the late fall or early spring.

DIRECTIONS:

To Truckee River Trail

The end points of the trail are Tahoe City via Highway 89. Cross "Fanny Bridge" on the highway and park in the public parking and recreation area on the left a few hundred feet after crossing the bridge. The other end is at Squaw Valley. a new communtity park is being built (2003) just past the intersection of the Squaw Valley Road and Highway 89. Turn onto the Squaw Valley Road and look for the access road within a few hundred feet on the left.
