Summit Lake Trail

DESCRIPTION:

No bikes on Pacific Crest Trail. Small meadows along the trail offer high-elevation wildflowers, and the one commanding view overlooking Donner Lake is picture perfect. Summit Lake is modest and shadowed by large fir trees. Eastern Brook and rainbow trout fishing is often productive in spring and fall; stocked with rainbow (2000). The existing Donner Lake Rim Trail connects to the lake via the 4WD road approaching the lake from the east and Negro Canyon (Donner Lake exit off I-80). Undeveloped ORV camping sites adjacent to lake are popular.
