DIRECTIONS:

To Second & Third Divide Trails

Topographic Maps: Downieville, Sierra City.
Drive or bike east through Downieville on Upper Main Street, veer right and cross Downie River Bridge. Travel northeast for 2.7 miles to Second Divide trailhead or continue for another 1.5 miles to prominent road fork. Take right branch and travel another 0.2 miles to signed parking. You’ve entered the Empire Ranch, private property, so park well off the road. Optional trail connections via Big Boulder or Pauley Creek Trails to Gold Valley going north or east up and up toward Butcher Ranch offer great alternatives and more flowers.
