Down-canyon scramble reveals some of the most photogenic canyon and series of falls along the entire river. Private land restricts access on south rim and north rim is sheer, rock-hopping granite. Popular swimming holes both up and downriver but too many swimmers dive off the cliffs or are caught in undertows; injuries or fatalities are unfortunately higher than elsewhere. Be careful! Enjoying the next 3-4 miles of downriver canyon is best left for the birds or views from the rim (see South Yuba above Golden Quartz).
