Save this one for the adventurous hiker that likes to visit old mine sites and gold rush boomtown sites. Little remains of the road or the townsite. Most of the trail crosses private mining claims.
The trail follows the old roadbed of the Keleher Road that continues above the existing 4WD road across the South Yuba River to the Keleher Townsite. The trail is no longer maintained. Take a good topographic map.
On the south side of the river above the historic Keleher townsite the road ties into the existing Last Chance Mill Road. A 4WD is recommended for the last part of the road. Or hike or bike.
See South Yuba River - Washington Map.

Follow the South Yuba above Golden Quartz "trail" that is actually a gated 4WD road. The road is closed to driving except for the miners who have claims in this segment of the South Yuba River. At the last mine you have to ford the river, so go in late summer or fall. Locate the historic roadbed that continues to the Keleher townsite. Take a good topographic map.
