Cottonwood Creek Interpretive Trail

DESCRIPTION:

This botanical trail identifies many common plants found in the riparian area along the creek and the adjacent forest representing the comparatively dry, eastern-slope of the Sierra Nevada. Nearby is the start of the Cottonwood Fire that burned over 50,000 acres in 1994. Take time to compare the two areas by venturing into the edge of the burn but be careful. Brochures for the trail are available at the Sierraville Ranger Station.
