Half dozen 4WD routes follow along this small Range from I-80 north to Lake Stampede Road. (See East Slope Map) Verdi Peak is the centerpiece. Camping at Boca Reservoir and Davies Creek above Stampede Reservoir is the most popular for OHV enthusiasts.

DIRECTIONS:

To Verdi Range Area

To get to the paved road to Boca and Stampede Reservoirs, drive east towards Reno on I-80 for 7 miles; take the Hirschdale exit. Continue north up the Stampede Dam Road for a about 2.5 miles Boca Reservoir. Popular camping areas are Boca Rest and Boca Springs. OHV access roads head east out of both camping areas and serve the southern end of the OHV area.

To get to the northern end of the Verdi Range area, drive north on the paved road towards Stampede Reservoir. Continue north past the entry road that turns left (west) to the reservoir. When the paving ends, to the left within a quarter mile on the Henness Pass Road is Davies Creek Campground. Turn to the right (east) on the Henness Pass Road towards Dog Valley and Verdi and continue east for less than 3 miles to FS Road #72. Turn south and follow it towards Verdi Peak.
