Eagle Lakes OHV Route

To get to Eagle Lakes you follow the first 3 miles of the famously difficult Fordyce Creek Trail.

...the trail to Eagle Lakes is serious 4Wheeling

DESCRIPTION:

Though nothing compared to that challenging route, the trail to Eagle Lakes is serious 4Wheeling. Snaking through the trees is a threat to your mirrors and at least one hill takes skill, a good vehicle and acceptance that the vehicle might get another ding.

Once you leave the Fordyce Creek Trail, the short half-mile to the Lakes is a comparatively easy segment.

The Lakes offer fishing, but are shallow and full of dead trees and vegetation. Mosquitoes come early and grow to small-bird sizes. The OHV road ends at the lakes, but in a short quarter mile, the trail drops to a lovely section of Fordyce Creek. You’ll see more fish and swimmers than bathing suits.

After about 1.5 miles north of the Sierra Treks assembly area, a road to the left goes to the Pierce Creek OHV camping grounds that were purchased using Green Sticker Funds. The campground lies along a lovely section of the South Yuba River in an area featuring slackwater pools resembling small lakes.
