Lake trout were planted years ago, but there has been no re-stocking in years. That’s not to say there’s a hungry, big one just waiting for someone to pack a fishing pole in. The trip alone is worth the hike. The view down into the North Fork of the headwaters of the American River is marvelous, yet seldom visited. The little lake is tucked under -- yep, Needle Peak. You’ll know the rock formation when you see it.
