Bridges and Trails of Sierra and Nevada Counties

March 20, 7 - 9pm at the Madelyn Helling Library. Suggested donation of $5.00 The program will describe many of the scenic, interesting, and challanging trail bridges and the trails serving various locations in Sierra and Nevada Counties.


Zachi Anderson has built two trail bridges for the Nevada County Land Trust

 

Bill Haire, Nevada County Land Trust trail coordinator has led the Land Trust efforts to build community trails for the past six years

 

DESCRIPTION:

Zachi Anderson has built two trail bridges for the Nevada County Land Trust, and is working on a third bridge. This past summer he led the effort to construct a stone arch bridge over Oregon Creek upstream of the town of Forest in Sierra County. He has also constructed several miles of non-motorized trails and will speak about trail and bridge construction.

Bill Haire, Nevada County Land Trust trail coordinator has led the Land Trust efforts to build community trails for the past six years, and has secured permits, easements and grants that allow for trail and trail bridge construction, and has led volunteer efforts in constructing trails. Previously, while working for Tahoe National Forest, Bill accomplished a number of trail construction projects.

This program will discuss what it takes to construct trails and bridges as well as showing some of the beautiful areas accessed by local trails.
