Pierce Creek OHV Camp

DESCRIPTION:

This camping area is totally dedicated to OHV camping. The lands and construction funds were provided through the Green Sticker Program. The access roads are accessible only by OHV vehicles and are blocked with boulders to limit the access.

The camping site is rustic but is a delightful location on the South Yuba River. The Fordyce to Meadow Lake OHV Route begins adjacent to the site.

DIRECTIONS:

To Pierce Creek OHV Camp

Exit I-80 at the Cisco Grove exit and follow Old Highway 40 to the north side of the Interstate. Continue west on this paved road by Indian Springs Campground and cross the South Yuba River on the concrete bridge. The paved road ends shortly after that.

Continue on the good, dirt road west until it turns to the right and travels north. The last piece of the road has been following under powerlines. Here you leave the powerline as it continues west. Follow the signs to the access road that drops down to the Pierce Creek OHV Camp. Continue beyond the boulders placed in the road to limit other vehicle access. Ford the South Yuba River and the camp is immediately across the river.

The Fordyce to Meadow Lake OHV Route begins adjacent to the campground. This route is the location of the annual Sierra Trek. It can only be used to reach Meadow Lake when the outflow is stopped each year during the event. Other times of the year crossing Fordyce Creek is too dangerous.

The Signal Peak OHV Route also ends adjacent to the site at the OHV Assembly Area on the east side of the South Yuba River.
