There are 31 campsites along a marvelous section of South Yuba River with deep, rocky pools and granite warmed by the sun for sunbathing. Limited parking. Rainbow Lodge next door offers fine dining -- outstanding compared to camp food.
To Hampshire Rocks Campground
The closest exit off I-80 is Rainbow/Big Bend (D). After exiting, travel west (right) on Old Highway 40 toward Big Bend; the campground lies along the river, east of Rainbow Lodge The campground can also be accessed from the Big Bend exit and travelling east on Old Highway 40. Continue past the Big Bend Visitor Center.
