The site is located on the ridge above the reservoir; the 16 tent campsites are near the lake and concrete boat ramp. Camping requires a fee, but no charge for the 14 picnic sites. Campground use and reservations are available for some sites for all Reservoir campgrounds through the Emerald Cove Marina (530) 692-3200. Drop-ins are okay as long as space is available, but they must go through the marina first. Shoreline camping is allowed (permit required) when water is drawn down at least 15'; campers must use campground toilets or have chemical toilets. Golden Passport discounts not available.
To Dark Day Campground
See North Yuba River/Camptonville Map. Drive 21 miles north of Nevada City via Highway 49 and then west on Marysville Road. From Highway 20 and Marysville follow Highway 20 east and turn onto Marysville Road heading north. Follow it to the dam and continue east to the signed intersection to the campground. Turn left (north).
