Located one mile on road 96 above French Meadows Reservoir on the Middle Fork of the American River. There are 12 campsites, all within a few feet of the river's edge -- but no developed water.

From I-80 the Foresthill exit lying within the town of Auburn is well signed and is shown as point (F) on the Auburn State Recreation Map. Follow the paved forest highway for 17 miles east to Foresthill.
Continue through Foresthill until leaving the heart of town; then take the Mosquito Ridge Road east of Foresthill for 36 miles. Continue past French Meadows Reservoir and follow the Middle Fork of the American River for another1 mile east on the gravel road. Camping is along the river.
Good
Rustic, near the end-of-the-road quiet but a long, slow drive. Pretty drive though. Next to Middle Fork River with good fishing and wading for the kids after 4th of July.
