South Yuba River Campground:

Although the South Yuba Campground lies on the bench well above the canyon, this is a popular camping and parking area for access into the some of the best year-round hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trail riding along the South Yuba River.

Summers can be warm, spring and fall are perfect.

Gold panning and recreational dredging are allowed by the Bureau of Land Management on their lands. Permits are required for use of recreational dredging. On State Park Lands only gold panning is allowed. Permits are not required for gold panning but make sure you follow the rules. See Gold Panning and recreational dredging.
