North Yuba River:

The North Yuba above New Bullards Bar Reservoir offers a rare recreational experience in the Sierra Nevada: easy access to mile after mile of free-flowing waters totally unaffected by dams and reservoirs.

Fishing in the North Yuba is the best of all the branches of the Yuba and whitewater boating offers non-stop, rip-snorting action especially in the spring. This is the only opportunity in the Nevada City area to enjoy the services and safety of commercial outfitters to guide you down the challenging river.

Scenic Highway 49 offers numerous access points throughout most of the river’s length. Several rustic, mining-era communities offer warm hospitality. Downieville and Sierra City have discovered new golden opportunities turning numerous historic mining trails and down-home hospitality into some of the richest collection of outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities found anywhere. Quaint B&Bs, great food, and an attractive variety of accommodations for anyone’s budget are sprinkled throughout the canyon and high-country.
