North Slope of the North Fork American River:

The North Slope is where you find the shortest and quickest way down into the awesome canyon as well as the best trail into the high country overlooking the canyon.

High above the canyon is the Loch Leven Lakes area that is one of the most popular hiking areas in the Central Sierra Nevada. Down below in the canyon bottoms is some of the loneliest areas. The north side of the North Fork of the American River Area is easily reached via Interstate 80.
