Lower Lola Montez Lake Trailhead:

Lola Montez was a popular dancer during California’s Gold Rush. This trail named after her is nearly as popular – especially for mountain bikers, but it makes a nice family hike for older kids. There’s a whole new rush on.

The lower part of the trail to Lower Lola Montez Lake snakes through private property; this section makes better a better exercise outing than pristine hiking. Still, the lake is definitely worth the hike. Upper Lola Montez Lake can be accessed via the Rattlesnake Road, and if you elect to scramble down-hill for a few hundred feet, so can Lower Lola Montez Lake.

For mountain bikers this leg of the loop along with the Hole in the Ground Trail usually is the returning trail and in all can make up an epic 25 mile trek.
