Good Morning Lake!

Lake Almanor-East Branch North Fork Feather River:

A rugged canyon accessible by rough dirt road or single tread path, the North Fork Canyon is an angler's paradise.

Once meandering through the Big Meadows before crashing down through a craggy canyon, the North Fork Feather River is now regulated by Lake Almanor and Butt Valley reservoir. The small gold mining town of Seneca is now only a few cabins and the occasionally open Seneca Gin Mill where you can drink a can of the coldest beer in northern Plumas County. The historic multi-story Caribou Powerhouse One is a testament to early-day engineering, while the town of Caribou, once a thriving P.G. & E. company town, now sits all but abandoned. Further down the road, which once was the Stone & Webster Railroad used to construct the powerhouse, are Forest Service campgrounds and the Caribou Corner Cafe at the intersection with National Forest Scenic Byway 70.
