See the Henness Pass Road in the section on Scenic Drives for a discussion of the complete driving tour. The modern, paved road paralleling the historic route to the west is referred to as the Jackson Meadows Road.
To the west (left) are access points to the Mount Lola Trail from the northern trailhead above the Little Truckee River. Continuing west on the Jackson Meadows Lake Road also takes you to the access road to Lake of the Woods and Jackson Meadows Reservoir plus little Milton Reservoir all of which are popular fishing lakes. The Little Lasier Meadows Camp sets just east of Jackson Meadows Reservoir. Little Truckee River Falls (Webber Lake Falls) can be viewed with only a few minutes cross-country walk from the road.
To the east from Highway 89 on the Henness Pass Road the mostly gravel route takes you by Sardine Valley and on to Verdi, Nevada.
