Rising out the mountains south of the Lassen County line, Indian Creek drains an enormous area in the Feather River watershed.
Indian Creek picks up numerous tributaries before being impounded in Antelope Lake not far from its headwaters. After release from the lake, it tumbles down a bouldery canyon picking up more streams on its way to its confluence with Spanish Creek and the formation of the East Branch of the North Fork Feather River. Hungry Creek, Last Chance Creek, Red Clover Creek, Ward Creek, Little Grizzly Creek, Lights Creek, Cooks Creek, and Wolf Creek are some of its major tributaries. After winding a circuitous route through the Indian Valley, it again makes its way down a rocky canyon, tumbling over the spectacular Indian Falls, then passing the noted Soda Rock, a major part of the Native American Maidu Indian folklore. From here it becomes more gentle until its confluence with Spanish Creek from the south, where it passes through some rugged rock channels and under the Highway 70 bridge.
