Highway 89 between Truckee & Sierraville:

This segment of the Yuba-Donner National Scenic Byway offers a scenic contrast to the canyons on the west side of the Sierra Crest. The country is more open pines and sagebrush meadows. The hills are smaller, but closer, and give off a sense of intimacy, more personal and less overwhelming than the west slope canyons. Spring flowers and aspen in the fall make this a favorite drive – especially in those two seasons.

The Highway 89 corridor between these two communities offers several recreational opportunities.

Mileages and locations are listed from Truckee north to Sierraville. Connect with Highway 89 either in downtown Truckee or the Truckee/Highway 89 North exit on I-80. The exit is on the east side of town.
