Stretching down the Middle Fork of the American River and forks of the Rubicon River, the view from the Sierra Crest into and beyond the Granite Chief Wilderness are inspiring. Even to the point of drawing you down, down into heart of the little Wilderness.
Climbing to the Sierra Crest into the Granite Chief Wilderness can be as easy as riding the Squaw Valley gondolla up to just below the rim. Even the trails are realitively easy and access off of Highway 89 south of Truckee is a quick way to arrive at the Wilderness doorstep.
