Cool Staging Area:

The trailhead is located immediately north of the hustle-bustle of downtown Cool. In fact a short trail leads into the parking area for several of the stores. Cool ice cream is only moments away. Or a latte, or even dinner.

Yet, minutes from the bright lights of Cool, lies some of the best hiking, biking, equestrian trail riding in these parts. Cool oaks, knurly, twisted limbs spreading above the lush green grass and wildflowers. Pointed rocks jut out of the meadows as if they were planted. Even – perhaps especially – in winter this country is a treat. But it’s not developed, no camping or picnicking facilities, few developed trails, and all the better for it.
